The Referee’s Decision

The Referee will mail a written decision to you. You should continue to file claims until you receive the decision from the Referee. Keep in mind, the Referee’s decision does not take into account your financial need. The Referee will only consider the facts presented and make a decision. The Unemployment Benefit is designed to only pay people who are not employed through no fault of their own. If the Referee determines and sides with your former employer, you will not receive Unemployment Benefits. The written decision will explain to you the rights of appeal if you are not happy with the decision. You will have 15 days to appeal the decision. If the decision is in your favor, you benefit payment will be sent to you after the decision has been made. You will not get any checks from the Appeals Division.
