Some workers are asked to participate in re-employment services or retraining when they have been unable to find suitable work for a period of time. Once you are enrolled in this type of training program, you will be trained in a job skill. One benefit of this program is that you are not asked to continue looking for work while you are in the program. You may even qualify for up to 18 weeks of extended benefits. You are able to focus on your studies without having to look for work and receive your benefit. Once the training is complete, you will have to take a job in the field where you have been trained. You will have to fully participate in assessment interviews, orientation and referred re-employment services. You will not have the luxury to decide and choose from a variety of jobs.
